Why choose Give a Dog a Bone Photography?

I am a strong believer in capturing your precious memories and giving you something you can cherish for the rest of you life. Specializing in creating fine art portraits and heirlooms, these can be enjoyed day in and day out as well as be passed down from generation to generation.
My strong passion for dogs will show through my work. I have a way of connecting with the animals through my lens, allowing their true personality to shine through.

Do you only photograph dogs?

No, although my sessions primarily focus on dogs, I am excited when I have to opportunity to work with other animals such as cats, horses, birds etc.

Can I be in the session or other members of my family?

Absolutely! Dogs are family and I love when families include them in the annual family pictures. Capturing the bond and connection between the owners and their pets is my ultimate favourite!

How long will the session be?

Typically a session is an hour long, however I ask my clients to allow for two hours. Especially is you have a fearful or timid dog. No session is ever rushed to ensure safety of your family. Plus I always love to talk "dog" and that can take some time!

My dog does not know any tricks or commands-Is that a problem?

Basic commands like sit or stay is very beneficial to a session but not a requirement. Allowing them the freedom to be themselves, lets their personality to shine through. I would recommend practising your sit/stay commands a few days prior to your session, even if it is working with them on leash and being able to move to the side a couple steps. We can still work with your pet on a lead/harness and in post-processing leashes can be removed so do not worry about that! Safety is number one.

I am afraid my dog my take off if let off leash, is there a safe location to go?

Not to worry, Photoshop is magical and can make that leash disappear and no added cost! Using a long line allows the dog the freedom they need to express themselves, while keeping them completely safe!

My pet is insert the following (fearful, shy, nervous, hyper) will you still photograph them?

Absolutely! After years of working with rescue dogs, I have learnt how to work with dogs of many personalities. I have a fearful/reactive dog myself, so I understand that your dogs well-being is top priority. At your consultation this is a great time to discuss your dogs quirks to ensure we can make the session stress free. After-all the quirks are what make our companions so special to us.

Can I buy digital files of the photos from my session?

We want you to have and cherish your images in many different ways, such as fine art prints to sharing on social media with family and friends. Each print purchased comes with a digital watermarked copy for your own personal use. Digital packages for those who are interested, are available to purchase separately.

Can I just print my own photos?

My favourite part besides visiting with the dogs, is helping you pick the right artwork for your home. Lets us remove all the guess work when it comes to deciding on how and what to print. We will help walk you through selecting the best products to represent your favourite images.  From fine art canvases, metal prints, to albums, each image is edited and prepared specifically to the product type and size. We only work with high quality professional printing labs to ensure the quality of the products are always top-notch. Whether you print through a pro lab or a consumer lab, each lab has specific color profiles and the color will vary from printer to printer. We are calibrated to the professional labs to ensure color accuracy of every print and without proper calibration to the lab, we can not guarantee the end result. This can lead to a misrepresentation of the photographers work and a unhappy customer, which we do not want. Each print comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
